Leg Day + Healthy Recipes


I was in the mood for a bagel and cream cheese this morning, but opted to use 7 Grain Kashi Go Lean waffles instead. One serving (2 waffles) yields 150 calories, 5 grams of fat, 4 grams of protein and 7 grams of fiber. Which was just what I needed to fuel my body for leg routine I put together.

Leg day

Below is the leg and flutes routine I performed at the gym.

~ 2 minute jump rope
- weighted barbell squats - 5 sets of 12 gradually increasing weight
~ Super Set with - dumbbell step-ups 
- declined leg press 3 sets of 15 shoulder width, wide, and closed leg
~ 2 minute jump rope
- leg extension 4 sets of 12
~ Super Set with - dumbbell front squats
- walking lunges around the entire gym with no weight. 
~ 2 minutes jump rope

 I performed no cardio because I kept my heart rate up the entire time.

Fresh Fruit

On my way home I stopped by the store to pick up fruit for this week. I don't purchase a lot a one time to keep from wasting it. There are a lot of different fruits and vegetables in season and selling at low prices so make sure you're stocking up on natures candy. 

I cooked the pasta prima lobster ravioli according to directions, drained, and set aside. 

Ingredients for Shrimp Scampi:

1 tsp of butter

1/2 tsp of kosher salt

1 tsp fresh or dried parsley

2 tbsp of fresh minced garlic

2 tbsp of extra virgin olive oil

The juice from 1/2 of a lemon

1/3 pound of shrimp cleaned and deveined

Season your shrimp with the kosher salt and set aside. In a medium sized hot pan add your butter, olive oil, and fresh garlic. Sauté for about a minute or two making sure not to burn the garlic. Add in your shrimp and cook for about four minutes or until the shrimp is opaque and slightly firm. Turn the heat off, squeeze in lemon juice, and add one tsp of fresh or dried parsley. Serve immediately over your ravioli. 

Note: The package of ravioli I used includes two servings. You will need to increase your ingredients if you're cooking for more than two people. 


I paired it with a side of fresh sautéed spinach. It was so good.
