The Weight Loss Journey of Shana

Shana

Why is fitness or being fit important to you?
Fitness is important to me because I want to live longer, I want to be an example for the MANY women fighting the good fight, to being motivated/healthy/consistent.

What or whom is the source of your motivation?
The source of my motivation is...my LIFE, after having a reality check that became the catalyst to the journey I'm now on I HAD to make the necessary changes & listen to my body.

Before

What if anything has changed about your diet and/or eating habits?
Ahh, there are so many different changes as far as my eating habit goes. I'm now a PROUD Pescetarian (seafood only) I completely eliminated rice, (raw/steamed) veggies are what you'll find on my plate. I do NOT drink soda, I make my own juice, no sweets, occasionally I'll indulge w/dark chocolate, & PLENTY OF WATER; I simply can't begin to stress how important drinking water is! I make sure that I get my source of legumes, nuts, & protein/fiber in. Before, I didn't care about these things.

How has that change contributed to your weight loss?
By changing how I eat, getting rid of the junk & things of that nature—this has played a HUGE part in keeping the pounds off, & giving me the proper strength needed to complete my workouts.

After

What has been your greatest challenge or hurdle during your weight loss journey?
Honestly, this time around I haven't experienced much of a "hurdle." I made the conscious, heart felt decision to change not only my life, but to fight for it no matter what. However, I'm only human so on some days I go back & forth with myself about working out; but I make it happen, If I can't make it to the gym I workout at home. I have my basic equipments, OUR BODIES ARE THE MACHINE—I've learned that one doesn't have to be in the gym every day to get results!

Do you have any advice for others trying to lose weight?
My advise to those wanting to lose weight/becoming healthy is to FIGHT. You owe it to yourself, first and foremost. If you have children, you owe it to them, your family wants you to be around for the long run. On the days when you're feeling at your lowest point, dig deep within & SPEAK motivation in your life. Go for walks, if you're unable to jog/run. Challenge yourself to eliminate certain food(s) from your plate. BE CONSISTENT, that's the only way you're going to see results. Avoid talking yourself out of eating healthy(example: it's too expensive to eat healthy) YOU'RE WORTH EVERY DOLLAR AMOUNT INVESTED WHERE YOUR HEALTH is concerned. That $20 spent at your favourite fast food restaurant can prepare a healthy meal for you. Also, be PATIENT...love yourself (it's all a process) appreciate each step taken towards becoming a healthier you!
