Balance is Key

One of my favorite song lyrics is from the artist Q-Tip, in which he states, “Okay, if knowledge is the key then just show me the lock” It resonates with me, because I’ve always found myself asking to be provided with knowledge and insight. Now, I wouldn’t consider myself an artist by any stretch of the imagination, but I do draw inspiration, and lately I’ve been inspired by the challenge of incorporating balance within my life. A discipline anyone could stand to benefit from, and in a relatively short period of time I’ve learned the importance of dedicating myself to this practice. In a way, I’ve gained knowledge and insight through this effort, and to take a play on Q-Tips lyrics I’d state, “Okay, if balance is the key then please show me the scale”

Subsequently the scale for me has been engaging in my new infatuation with Yoga! It's close to being a love affair, but we just began dating a couple of weeks ago, and with anything and everything in life it must be done in moderation. I will always rely heavily on my strength and endurance training to supplement me mentally and physically; however, Yoga has provided an element of movements and exercises that blend extremely well with my normal routine and regiment.

In this clip I'm testing my core strength and overall balance by executing a headstand. There are a variety of methods to performing this maneuver, and the method I utilized may not be ideal for everyone. I’ll caveat my last statement by saying that this video is not a tutorial, and I do not recommend anyone attempting this feat without first building your core strength to include learning the proper form/technique needed for execution.
