Meet Natural Beauty: Tywanda

1.Why did you decide to go natural?
I was already one year in without having a perm. During that time I maintained protective hairstyles to assist in the process. One day I made a decision that would change my life from that point on. Once I made up in my mind that I was ok with my choice I went to the bathroom and sat on the edge of the tub. I had not planned to do what I ended up doing in the bathroom. The next thing you know I was cutting out my sew-in. I guess something in me said "You just made a major decision, why not make another change that will involve you totally starting over". I had been very insecure in a lot of things but these two choices I made within minutes allowed me to be rid of that insecurity and FREE with NO REGRETS!

2. How long have you been natural?
I have been visibly natural for almost a month, but like I stated earlier I had been chemical free for a
year prior.

3.When did you do your Big Chop or did you Transition?
My transition started March of 2011

4.What has been your greatest struggle since becoming natural?
Let's see..........trying to find the perfect earrings to go with my hair. Honestly, I have not had a struggle as of yet because if I do have an "unmanageable hair day" I will put on a cute scarf and wrap it in a cute style and keep it moving.

5.What are the three most important steps in your routine?
Co-washing - Leave in conditioner - My favorite satin scarf to tie my hair up

6.What is one of your favorite products and why?
I was introduced to the Kinky- Curly Knot Today leave in conditioner by a fellow natural chic, LaChristin . It keeps my hair soft and when I do my twist out it doesn't tangle.

7.Did you have the support of your Family and Friends?
Surprisingly enough when I unveiled my look I received so many compliments. Out of all the people my father's response was more touching. He is a man of few words but he sent me back a response and all it said was "Beautiful."

8.What would be your advice to someone who is thinking about going natural?
Going natural is you just being you, exactly who you "naturally" are. Embrace every bit of who you are, so why not start from the top.
