Reduce Your Grocery Bill

These tips were posted on a Friend of mines Facebook wall and I thought I'd share. If you have any tips to add please do so in the comment section.

1. Grab the grocery ads on Sunday and base your meals for the week on what's in those ads on sale or create your own meals for the week.
2. Make a distinct list of what is needed to make those meals for the week.
3. Do an inventory of what you already have in your cabinets based on what you will need.
4. Go shopping, DO NOT DEVIATE from that list, don't even take coupons of foods not on that list, and do not go down the aisle unless you are picking up something from that list.
5. Don't go shopping hungry.

I've been following these tips for some time now and have been able to cut my grocery bill in half. Before, I’d go to the grocery store unprepared making up meals on the fly, meals that I wouldn't even end up preparing for that week. I would forget to look in my pantry to do an inventory of foods I already had and would end up wasting money buying those same items again. My biggest offense was when I'd go to the store hungry and out of hunger end up throwing junk in my basket that I didn't need. All in all, these tips have served as my guideline for how to shop more efficiently and effectively.
