Don't sleep on breakfast

Source

Breakfast is key! After fasting all night the first thing I need to do is fuel my for the day with an energy packed breakfast. The key is to make sure you fuel it with the right foods to give you energy to sustain through the morning. Donuts, greasy fast food breakfast, and sugary cereals simply don't provide your body the nutrients it needs to get going. Below are some quick and easy breakfast ideas.

Breakfast Ideas:

Fruit & Cheese (Any kind of fruit, cubed cheese, string cheese) fruits such as strawberries, kiwis, red grapes, and apples provide instant energy.

Peanut Butter on a whole grain or whole wheat bagel with a small glass of low fat milk(provides you with fiber and protein) I like to have a small amount of jelly on one side and peanut butter on the other half.

Low fat chocolate milk instead of coffee and a banana. Horizon Organic brand low fat chocolate milk is very good.

Energy bars that contain at least 3 to 5 grams of protein(Kashi go Lean, Odwalla, Balance Bar)Stay away from bars that contain a lot of sugar or artificial sweeteners. You can also make your own energy bar.

Fruit Smoothies and Shakes( Add a scoop of protein powder) I like to buy fresh fruit and freeze it the night before to add to my smoothie and shakes.

High Fiber Cereal (Kashi Go Lean Brand, Any Bran cereal, Fiber 1, Post Shredded Wheat) I like to add fresh fruit, flax seed, or granola to mine.

Yogurt, with fruit and granola (Yoplait, Dannon, Chobani, Stoneyfield Farms are great brands)

Oatmeal (high in fiber and low in calories) I like to add fruit and flax seed to plain oatmeal. My instant favorites are Better Oats and Kashi Go Lean.

  3. I love my cereal with bananas. The never thought of eating a peanut butter slice for breakfast... and I really need to get a blender. I really want to do some breakfast shakes.
