Inexpensive Summer Fun

Amidst a recession, inflated prices at the pump, and poor job security, summer vacationing for my family has had to be budget friendly. I've taken it upon myself to research the area for inexpensive family friendly activities. You'd be surprised how many inexpensive activities there are to do right in your own town/city. My kids have been asking since last summer to go back to The Great Wolf Lodge. We had a great time there, but it is not a water park you can visit every weekend. Water Parks in general have become quite pricey. It cost on an average of $40 per person for all day admission. Determined to find a place equivalent to your major water park, but for a fraction of the price I researched with my best friend Google, and found Aquatic Park in Bonner Springs, KS. I took my kids today and we had a blast! Great weather, mixed with a small crowd, plenty of shade, space, and lifeguards; to include two slides, diving boards, a basketball hoop, and snack bar made the inexpensive $5 admission feel like I was stealing. We had an awesome time!

Also check your local zoo, museums, and movie theatres for summer specials.  Here in Kansas City on every Tuesday and Wednesday at 10 am they show one G and PG movie for free. It's first come first serve, but the kid's get to enjoy an older movie on the Big Screen. You don't have to break the bank to show your kid's a good time during the summer!

Today, I wore my hair wet and pulled back into a low puff. Easy breezy styling!
